What We Believe

We believe that God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all part of a triune God who coexist as coequal and coeternal. These are three distinct persons who exist and can operate simultaneously and independently of one another yet, are all part of one divine Godhead.  The Bible is clear that there is only one God that has always existed in the Trinity of three persons God the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

We believe to receive salvation that one must believe that Jesus, the Son of God, took all the sins of the world upon His body and died on a cross that our sins might be forgiven.  It was through His death and shedding of His blood that old covenant sacrifices were fulfilled. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by taking all of our sins upon Himself that we might be forgiven of ours.  Through His sacrifice, we become reconciled to God if we humbly submit ourselves to Him asking for the forgiveness of our sins.

We believe that after one receives salvation that they should be baptized in water as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:18 – 20, “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  By participating in baptism, you are not only fulfilling the command of Jesus, but are putting to death the old person that you once were and acknowledging your salvation before others.

We believe that we can pray directly to God as indicated by Jesus teaching His disciples the Lord’s prayer.  We are to pray in the name of Jesus as the Bible outlines in many places, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

We believe that we are to live according to the principles God has set forth in the Bible striving daily to be more like Christ. If we sin, then we are to immediately repent by confessing that sin and asking for forgiveness. “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;  but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” (1 John 2:1-6)

We believe that Jesus ascended to heaven to go and prepare a place for His people. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.  And you know the way to where I am going.” (John 14:3)

We believe that Jesus will rapture His church, “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4: 13 – 18)

We believe the gifts of the Spirit are given to each person and are alive and active today and available to every believer. “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

We believe that we should follow Paul’s admonition on how to live as we wait for the return of Jesus, “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.” (Philippians 2:12-16)
